Kilchoman Distillery

Rockside Farm, Bruichladdich, Isle of Islay PA49 7UT, UK – 01496 850011

The distillery tour was great. The guide was very knowledgeable and she was able to explain the process with detailed information. There's a restaurant where you can have lunch but it can be quite packed on lunch hour. If you're going here in the morning for a tour, I may suggest making an order for food and book a table for lunch beforehand. The gift shop offers quite a lot of their whisky in mini bottles which are great for souvenirs.

First up - THEY CHARGED ME FOR TWO MINUTE SAMPLES EVEN THOUGH I BOUGHT A £75 BOTTLE OF WHISKY! Absolutely awful form. As a new distillery, their whiskies are young and don't have that classic Islay taste or feel yet, although that's likely to come. They do have a cafe, although not having eaten there I can't comment further than that. The tours may be good, and as a 'farm distillery' they conduct much of the process on site which is nice, but the charge for the few millilitres I tasted left an awfully sour taste in my mouth.
